The Before - How beautiful it all was!

Day One – The Before!

So here it is! Here is my house, looking back on them from day 5 I wish it looked that good…we’ve torn it apart! Just kidding (we have torn it apart but...) the house couldn’t look better! I am so excited for the progress we have made! Okay, I’m getting ahead of myself! Let me start from the beginning; Once upon a time…there was a ugly red and I don’t know what color house! Seriously though, here it is…here is my new home!

Isn’t it beautiful! Look at the potential, can’t you see it! It’s basically seeping through the loose boards, and huge gaping cracks! Okay I should stop because I am pretty sure everyone who reads this has gotten the idea that I hate my home…and that couldn’t be farther from the truth! I couldn’t be happier with the house we chose!

Let’s take a tour! First off lets walk through the huge living room/dining room! Those are the original hard wood floors and molding…100 years old!! With three giant wonderful windows! And a beautiful front door mom adores! I like the old school bolt lock, that can stay…but we have bigger and brighter dreams for the door! Okay, now the door to the left is the first bedroom, let's head in shall we!

Continuous hardwood floors into both bedrooms! This room has a bonus…2 closets! A good size closet to the right, and the hot water heater in the closet to the left! (with plenty of room to spare). There is also a window to the front porch! To top it all off…the most AMAZING doorknobs known to man!

Now let’s head back into the living room. Here we have the other two beautiful windows! Justin is showing us how big the room is!(sorry folks he doesn't come with the house!)

On the opposite wall we have access to the two bedrooms. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the giant wood panel, but it is there to protect the wall from the heat from the wood stove that used to be there! On the left is the 2nd bedroom…the green and yellow is intriguing let’s take a look!

As we walk in to the left is a huge closet! With a good size window to the right letting lots of light in!

As we look to the right there is the rest of the room with…yes. That is the bedroom door! Unfortunately, this is the only room lacking the bling of the awesome diamond doorknobs!

Let’s head back into the living room. Here is the view of the back wall as you are walking through the front door. There were two gracious models posing for us in what is the door way to the kitchen! Awe love is in the air!

So let’s continue into the kitchen…straight ahead is the house’s original back door but it now leads to the mud room and laundry room. Right in front will be the stove and refrigerator!

Let’s turn all the way around in a counter clockwise motion! To the left is currently the only counter space in the kitchen. The kitchen itself is huge! But two walls are not being utilized…which we can see if we turn some more…

To the right is the doorway to the living room and to the left is the doorway to the bathroom and right in front of us is where the island/breakfast bar is going to be! Can’t you picture it!

Finally, and sadly our tour will end with the bathroom! Unfortunately I did not manage to get pictures of the whole bathroom…there is a giant cabinet/closet thing to the right as you walk in. Here is a picture of the sink that is directly to the left as you walk in…there is also a medicine cabinet above, and then straight ahead is the shower! Just wait until you see what we do to transform this bathroom…or should I say spa!

Well thanks for stopping by my open house! But I have to go! Gotta get to work...I only have 30 days!!!

Presenting the "I don't want to be homeless challenge!"

Objective: Make Rachel's house habitable before she begins her research this summer!

Timeline:
May 20th to June 18th

What’s at stake? If this enormous feet cannot be accomplished, then sadly but surely Miss Rachel will find herself not on the street with no where to go, but even worse…in a trailer in the backyard with her parents! So to put it simply…the stakes are ENORMOUSLY HUGE! (I love you mom and dad!)

In other words we have from the day I got the keys (May 20th) to the day I get back from Yellowstone to have my house ready to live in! Which really means, hopefully I will have four walls and a door to set up my bed! Who knows I’m not picky…I would settle for 3 ½ walls! The stakes are high so let’s get started…

30 days and counting down…
